Career Experience

1990 to Current
Technical Support and Training Officer
Co-Mart Software Pty Ltd

I formed my own company, Co-Mart Software Pty. Ltd., to provide support and training to businesses and I specialise in the application and operation of computer software. One major client required me to evaluate the current manual accounting system; write a business plan and project manage the installation of an accounting package. Another client asked me to redesign and automate more than 100 documents including one that was twenty pages long. In Melbourne my clients included R.M.I.T. University, Woodards Real Estate and the Melbourne City Council. In Brisbane my clients include TEAMs Services, Queensland Technology Training, Moreton Institute of TAFE, and Andersens Carpets.

Major Contracts Entered into by Co-Mart Software Pty Ltd

1999 to current with TEAMs Services, Queensland Technology Training, Moreton Institute of TAFE and the Bayside Learning Centre

Sessional trainer

I provide basic, intermediate and advanced training in most Microsoft Office desktop packages. I also teach the M.Y.O.B. accounting package plus QuickBooks and I specialise in helping clients with their B.A.S. and G.S.T. problems. I help small businesses automate their offices by creating templates and macros with follow-up training if required.

1990 to 1999 with Melbourne City Council
Technical support and training officer

This contract required advanced skills in all Microsoft Office desktop packages and I provided backup support to the NT and Exchange administrator by creating LAN logins, Exchange groups and mailboxes. I provided first and second level Helpdesk Support plus one on one training for Senior Management up to and including the Chief Executive Officer and the Lord Mayor.

I was involved with the beta testing of Office 97 reporting back to Microsoft on a regular basis. I devised and implemented the upgrade training from Schedule + to Outlook 97 and, for six months, hired a subcontractor to assist me with this. Two years later I devised and implemented the upgrade training from Windows 3.51 to NT4. Both of these projects involved up to 700 people.

I was the initial FrontPage trainer of all the intranet editors within the Council. Subsequently this involved planning meetings with them all to give the same look and feel to each branch's home page. I was one of the two FrontPage editors for the Information Technology branch.

I was responsible for the writing and production of the Information Management newsletter that was seen by every Council employee. The newsletter contained articles on future projects, tricks and tips, people profiles and Y2K updates.

1990 to 1999 with R.M.I.T. University
Sessional trainer

I provided basic, intermediate and advanced training in most Microsoft Office desktop packages to the University's external clients such as the Health Department and the Real Estate Institute of Victoria. Each class (approximately one a month) was run over a period of two days with a maximum of ten students.

1988 to 1989
Database Administrator
Postel Marketers Pty Ltd

I was responsible for the daily operation of a CITOH mini computer, which included training and management of keypunch operators designing and printing of reports using Access, maintaining some programs using the 4GL Sysgen and writing statistical reports in spreadsheet programs. I also helped to specify and design the Pick Basic programs used to run the company's telemarketing campaigns and processed the payroll of casual employees.

1985 to 1987
Market Support Representative
Parity Computers Pty Ltd

My major brief for the company was to make installations perfect, the company recognising that my software and hardware skills made a unique contribution in this area.

My duties also involved the training of DOS, Lotus 123 and Symphony to both clients and internal staff. I was involved in the installation, training and support of the following accounting packages; Interactive Application's Charter series, CBA from Intelligence and Attache, the Parity Service Station Manager, Wordstar 2000 and Multimate. I demonstrated and provided pre-sales support for Lotus 123, Symphony, Charter, CBA and Attache to prospective clients and I was instrumental in sales of both hardware and software in major accounts. I also worked on the software evaluation and installation of an in-house computerised accounting system.
